Decorating the Christmas Table with Bunny Guinness

Bunny Guinness with Daughter Unity Guinness

Christmas is a time for bringing warmth and nature together in our homes, and who better to show us how than the acclaimed garden designer, Bunny Guinness? In a recent festive video, Bunny, with her daughter (and fellow designer) Unity Guinness, shared their approach to decorating the home for Christmas. They chose to use elements from the garden and some exquisite borrowed from us, The Worm that Turned. The result? A magical blend of nature, elegance, and just the right touch of opulence.

Bunny, who has 5 Chelsea Gold medals, sets the tone with her ethos: “I love bringing things outside, inside.” This philosophy is evident in her Christmas table, where rich greenery, delicate wirework, and glimmering decorations come together throughout their home to create an unforgettable festive display full of real plants and garden finds.

The Vintage Pear Baubles: A Touch of Timeless Charm

Bunny has been named one of the UK's top 50 garden designers and she shows this keen eye in her striking Christmas table design. At its heart is a striking wirework tree, a centrepiece reminiscent of the artistic creations of Celestino Valentin. Adorning its branches are our Vintage Pear Baubles. Available in antiqued shades of green, russet, and gold, these baubles add a refined vintage charm to any festive setting. They created the perfect foil for Bunny's own gold apples.

Bunny herself highlights this centrepiece: “The centrepiece is this lovely wire-work tree.” and Unity is immediately drawn to the baubles, asking, “Where did you get these from, these are cute?”

Vintage Style Glass Pear Decoration (7163390558268)

Bunny’s answer? “I borrowed those from The Worm that Turned.” It’s clear these decorations caught Unity’s eye, prompting her to say, “They’re really good," and recognising our other specialty, "They’ve got good furniture. I didn’t know they did small bits as well!” We do Unity! Many little delights to add sparkle to your home.

These delicate pears, hung from the wire frame, offer a subtle sparkle that feels both nostalgic and contemporary – the perfect way to introduce a hint of nature’s bounty to the festive table.

The Strutting Gold Pheasants: An Opulent Statement

No Christmas table is complete without a dash of glamour, and our Strutting Gold Metal Pheasant Decorations deliver just that. Bunny placed these golden birds proudly on the table, where their shimmering finish catches the light beautifully, enhancing the luxurious feel of the display.

Bunny’s admiration for the pheasants is clear: “I think they’re really nice, I feel like buying these and keeping them. I think I would use them all year round. They are lovely, I do like them.” These elegant decorations, with their sculptural forms and opulent gold finish, are versatile enough to grace your mantelpiece, nestle among faux garlands, or stand proud as part of your Christmas table. Bunny did go on to buy these pheasants from us so we look forward to seeing them take their permanent place in her home!

Their dramatic, yet refined, presence pairs perfectly with the rich greens and earthy elements Bunny and Unity chose to incorporate in their design. And remember, you can gently tease their plumage into shape for that perfect finishing touch.

Bunny Guinness’ approach to Christmas decor is a masterclass in bringing the beauty of the outdoors into your festive home. The wirework tree with vintage pear baubles and the golden pheasants from The Worm that Turned are perfect examples of how thoughtfully curated pieces can transform your table into a celebration of nature’s elegance.

This holiday season, take inspiration from Bunny and Unity: blend your garden’s offerings with hand-picked decorations to create a space that’s as warm, inviting, and full of character as a winter garden itself.
