The Icelandic sheep is a robust breed that is born, and lives freely, in nature. The wool's unusual character is the result of centuries of adaptation to the harsh Icelandic climate. The long hair protects the sheep's skin from moisture, while the short hair keeps the animal warm.

Icelandic sheep are distinguished by two things, unusually long hair and a variety of natural colours. The sheepskins are excellent quality, and have a wonderful, wild appearance.

The Icelandic sheep wool is composed of two types of hair, the 'guard hairs', and the undercoat. The top coat is long (between 15 and 25 cm), while underneath the hair is short, soft and elastic. These two types of hair together give the skin a special and beautiful appearance.

These sheepskins are chosen, and treated, carefully. They are gorgeous on a chair or bench; use them on outdoor furniture on chillier summer or autumn evenings, to give some warmth.

They provide warmth, and no matter where you put them, an authentic Nordic look.
