This pumpkin is one of the heritage varieties, it has a thick nobbly skin with sweet orange and yellow flesh. It is easy to grow and packed full of flavour.
Try in stews or casseroles or our favourite is to roast it with lashings of olive oil, garlic and a sprinkle of sea salt and black pepper.
The pumpkin dates back to 17th Century when it was brought to Venice from the Americas, crossed with a local variety and cultivated in the Veneto region (Chioggia), it is one of the oldest pumpkin cultivars in Italy.
