Please see below for details on how to care for your Gloster outdoor furniture and fabric. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to call us on our furniture help line 0345 6052505 before a well intentioned aged uncle or aunt offers to help.

Teak

Teak is a naturally weather resistant material which ages beautifully when left outdoor, only requiring thorough cleaning once or twice a year with Gloster Teak & Upholstery Cleaner. Use teak protector to protect furniture from staining. Seal teak with Teak Sealer If you want your furniture to retain its golden-brown colour.

Woven

Woven furniture can be left outside all year round and is able to withstand temperatures from -20°C to +55°C. It is important to use a non-foaming cleaner on woven furniture, as a foaming product will leave residues in the gaps in between the weave which will then attract dirt. We recommend that woven furniture is regularly cleaned using Gloster's Sling & Woven Cleaner.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a generally resistant to corrosion but may develop brown spots over time especially if you live in a coastal area. They are purely superficial and do not affect the integrity of the stainless steel, and only require cleaning to restore it to its original appearance.

A Scotchbrite pad is included with all Gloster products which can be used to gently clean of spots. If there is a build up Gloster's Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polisher will be required.

Sling Furniture

Gloster’s Textilene® woven vinyl is not only incredibly comfortable but also resistant to fading, mildew and wear & tear under even the most severe weather conditions. Sling requires only occasional cleaning with Gloster Sling & Woven Cleaner to keep it looking as good as new. We recommend that sling furniture is cleaned using Gloster's Sling & Woven Cleaner, following the instructions detailed on the label.

Powder Coating

Powder coating is a very popular finish because it has a modern look, while being durable and weather resistant. Powder coated furniture usually only require a regular wipe down with a wet microfiber cloth and some mild detergent. Don’t be too rough on your furniture to avoid causing dents, which can damage the water proof finish.

Upholstery Cushions

The upholstered cushions for the relaxing and dining collections featured on our pages are made from Sunbrella fabric, the world's leading outdoor fabric.

One of the best ways to keep Sunbrella fabrics looking good, and to delay deep or vigorous cleanings is to properly maintain the fabrics.

This can be accomplished by simply brushing off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fabrics, wiping up spills as soon as they occur, or spot cleaning soon after stains occur.

However please take care if considering machine washing as this may deplete the fire retardant chemicals in the fabric. We advise that cushions are hand washed following the instructions.

Ceramics

Ceramic table tops usually only require a regular wipe down with a microfibre cloth. Combat light stains with water and dishwashing detergent. Use a dab of concentrated detergent for tougher stains.

Protective Covers

To further protect your Gloster furniture from the elements, specially designed protective covers are available for many pieces.

All protective covers are made from a peformance material named Weathermax. It is a heavy duty 100% solution dyed polyester material, that allows fabric to breathe underneath thus reducing dampness, heat build-up and condensation, further protecting against mould and mildew.

Each cover is specially tailored to the dimensions of the furniture meaning there a perfect fit every time. Not only that, covers are available for stacking chairs also, so you're able to protect from up to four chairs.

For stand alone furniture and modular collections, a combination of zips and velcro allow for simple application, and a further strap-and-clip connector or tie makes a secure barrier against the wind.

When protecting your upholstered furniture for extended periods of time, e.g. Winter. ensure all pieces are dry before being covered. We recommend drying the cushions indoors before fitting the covers.

Lastly, during those periods allow your furniture to breathe from time to time, and perform regular maintenance if need be. This can include cleaning any residual dirt or splashes that may appear underneath the covers.

We advise protective covers for table tops be elevated in the middle to ensure natural drainage of water meaning you can avoid the possibility of standing water.

You can use any ordinary household object (a paper coffee cup would be ideal), and we recommend one item for square and round dining tables, and two for rectangular tables.
