This melon cucumber is a rustic variety from Puglia in Southern Italy and is on the endangered heritage list of seeds. When it is picked young it can eaten as a cucumber. But if you let them grow on and then they become more like a melon, although not as sweet as melon as it has a slightly reduced sugar level.
But the fruits are short and medium sized with good productivity. They are best grown in a greenhouse or under cover rather than outside. But would still grow in a continuer in a warm sunny sheltered spot.
They are eaten raw in a salad, without any dressing or with just a pinch of salt.
All growing instructions for Franchi seeds are on the back of the pack. Just follow the blue dot symbols.
